Korean fried chicken franchise Genesis BBQ said Wednesday that it had launched its 11th store in Vietnam, ramping up its expansion in Southeast Asia.
The two-story outlet in Da Nang, a coastal city in central Vietnam, has a total floor area of 128 square meters.
With its proximity to My Khe Beach, recognized in surveys as one of the world’s most beautiful beaches, the latest branch is ideally situated for attracting both locals and foreign visitors, the franchise added.
Besides the franchise's chicken dishes, including its signature Golden Olive Chicken, the store offers other Korean dishes, including kimchi fried rice and tteokbokki.
On its opening day alone, the store logged 4 million won ($2,970) in sales, the company said.
“Going forward, we aim to open more stores in major tourist places globally, to accelerate the globalization of K-chicken,” an official from BBQ stated, citing its plan to hit the 50,000-store mark worldwide.
Since first entering Vietnam in 2007, the Korean chicken franchise has been opening stores aggressively in the country. Last July and August, it launched two new stores in Time City and Bac Ninh in Hanoi, the country's capital.
Currently, it operates stores in eight countries across Southeast Asia including Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore Cambodia and the Phillippines.
